Research Interests

Post-quantum cryptography, privacy-preserving systems, mixnet-based anonymous communication, cryptographic systems engineering, verifiable elections and e-voting, zero-knowledge proof systems, and blockchain security.

Postquant Labs / Quip Network

Building post-quantum cryptographic infrastructure for blockchains and decentralized systems. Co-designing the Quip Network, a coordination layer for decentralized quantum computing.

2017—2022 Co-Founder, VP Software Engineering
XX Network (formerly Privategrity / Elixxir)

Technical leadership for the xx network and Elixxir, a privacy preserving messaging platform backed by a blockchain designed with post quantum resistance in mind, co-founded with David Chaum. Cryptographic systems engineering for the cMix anonymous messaging protocol. Built and led engineering teams.

2015—2017 Chief Scientist / Co-Founder
Lexumo (spun out of Draper Labs)

Built the first automated service for continuous open-source vulnerability monitoring of IoT software platforms.

2012—2015 Founding Principal for Cyber, Embedded Systems Security Group Lead
Charles Stark Draper Laboratories

Led the embedded systems security group. Research and development of binary analysis tools, decompilation (Fracture/LLVM), and static analysis for embedded platforms.

  • Tactical Automated Security System (TASS) and Integrated Base Defense Security System (IBDSS) Contractor Logistics Support Group: Inventory management database, bar code printing/reading system, external access for Government and Military clients via a secure website, internal access in Java and VB application clients.   • Maintenance Mentoring System (MMS): Worked in programming team on application that automated creation of an interactive set of HTML documents from maintenance manuals. The documents were used on a portable computer to service engines and other heavy military equipment.
